| Our Philosophy |
We believe that personal and academic growth will flourish in a
setting which nurtures trust and respect. At A F International College,
we require all members of the school community to act with integrity and
responsibility in every aspect of their lives. We also believe that the
transmission of knowledge, the encouragement of curiosity, the development
of rational thought, and the cultivation of responsible, honorable behavior
are the great ends of education.
In considering the needs of an English
language institute, we recognize that a school for international students
should be unique, in its own philosophy, purposes, organization, and facilities.
It should be able to recognize and deal with the challenges of living in
a new culture, and to meet the needs of a population that is diverse in
background, aspirations, developmental stages, and rates of growth. Our
instructional program provides students with opportunities to develop basic
English skills and to acquire the necessary knowledge to develop a positive
self-image and to foster academic, social, and personal growth. We strive
to provide a humanistic, student-centered approach to learning. |

Our intensive English program strives
to provide the highest quality instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL), and supportive services to international students
while promoting intercultural communication skills and maintaining a school
environment that is friendly, welcoming and encouraging.

| Why learn English at A F International? |
Our Mission Statement has guided us since
1995 when A F International School of Languages Inc. first opened its doors
in Westlake Village, California. The letters A and F are the initials of
Dr. Andrea Fuchs, the founder of AFI and a passionate educator herself.
From a small classroom with initially three students, we have since grown
into two locations, and along the way we made many friends from all over
the world who joined AFI to improve their English skills and to be part
of an exciting, international community in which they learn, explore, have
fun and speak English.
A F International is an unforgettable way to experience American culture--and
it's the fastest way to learn English! On your first day at school, we test
your language knowledge and assign you to the correct study level. From
then on, we will assess your progress and discuss it with you on a regular
basis. This personal approach means that you develop the language skills
you need in a time frame most comfortable to you. At the end of your program,
you will receive the AFI Course Certificate of Completion. On completion
of a 3-months course or longer, you will also receive the A F International
Academic Record.
Our students are among the most successful candidates for the TOEFL iBT. Their results are a tribute to the effectiveness of our Intensive
Advanced English program. Our campus in Los Angeles is also an ETS-certified
test site for the TOEFL iBT.
Our teachers are the backbone of our school: experienced, enthusiastic and
patient professionals who will encourage you and inspire you to excel.

A F International College is private
year-round language school offering a full program of English and test programs (TOEFL). We welcome students from over 50 nations worldwide
with an average enrollment of 80 students. Our school is located on the
sixth floor of the Pierce Financial Building in the the Koreatown section
of downtown Los Angeles, just across from the historic Wiltern Theater;
Hollywood and Beverly Hills, the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and the Staples
Center are within easy reach.
We work together with local host families
in walking distance to our school who offer safe and friendly accommodations.
Our students enjoy an amazing smorgasbord of international dining facilities,
from Asian fusion to American fare. Our proximity to the boutiques of Beverly
Hills and the theaters of Hollywood creates an abundance of shopping and
entertainment possibilities.
The weather in the City of Angels is
beautiful, with an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and an average
of 320 sunshine days per year. |
