DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Application Processing Fee**

 $140

All students are required to pay a $75 registration fee. Students applying for an F-1 (student) visa will also need to pay the $200 SEVIS fee, a $200 Tuition Deposit, and a $100 express mailing fee. Upon arriving at the school, students should expect to pay approximately $50 for textbooks and/or copy charges per session.

*The I-901 is the US government-required fee which AFI pays on your behalf; this service is free. We will provide you with a written receipt on a Form I-797 to show the fee has been paid.

** What Is the DS-160 Form?
The new DS-160, Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application, is a fully integrated online application form that will be used to collect the necessary application information from persons seeking a nonimmigrant US Visa. The DS-160 form will be submitted electronically to the Department of State via the Internet. US Consulates will use the information entered on the DS-160 form to process the visa application and, combined with a personal interview, to determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa. All application questions on the DS-160 form, except as specially provided, must be answered in English (using English characters), and you must bring the DS-160 confirmation page with you to the US Consulate (do not bring your entire DS-160 application). For more information, please go to the Department of State's website

Please note that after you have completed the DS-160, you need to take these next steps:

Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page. (You will not need to print the full application.)

Visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will apply for additional country-specific instructions. Before an interview, nonimmigrant visa applicants, with few exceptions, need to:

Schedule an interview appointment; and
Pay the visa application processing fee. The United States Department of State charges a "Nonimmigrant Visa application processing fees" which for the F-1 visa, is $140.
