Course Confirmation and Payment:
All tuition and fees must be paid in full before you start classes at A
F International. Upon receipt of your application and payment, we will send
you a letter confirming your acceptance. Payment may be sent by any of the
following: international money order, electronic bank transfer (wire transfer),
Western Union or Xoom, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa only). We cannot
process your application unless we receive your payment. |
Bank Transfers:
Please include the student's name as part of the bank transfer information.
Your payment must include the transfer fees charged by the bank. For more

F-1 Student Visa Applications:
A F International is authorized to issue a Certificate of Eligibility (Form
I-20) to qualifying students for full-time study. The I-20 form is used
when applying for a student visa (F-1) and will only be issued for the number
of weeks that your tuition is paid. You can extend your courses at A F International
and a new I-20 will be issued. The Student Visa must be obtained at the
U.S. Embassy in your home country before your departure. If you are denied
a student visa, you will receive a refund of all prepaid tuition when you
(i) give the school a copy of the denial letter from the U.S. Embassy, and
(ii) return the original I-20 form issued by the school. If you require
an I-20 form, you must provide A F International with documents showing
that you have enough money to pay for all of your tuition and living expenses
while you are studying at A F International. Please send these documents
with your application. These documents can be any one of the following: |
(1) Evidence of financial means (e.g. a copy of a recent
bank statement) to cover tuition and living expenses for the duration of
your stay; or
(2) A letter of financial responsibility from your parent or legal guardian
accompanied by evidence of their financial means (e.g. a copy of a recent
bank statement); or
(3) A letter of sponsorship from your company or organization together with
evidence of financial means. |
Accommodations:
Accommodations are arranged beginning on the Sunday preceding your course
and ending on the Saturday after your course is completed. Extra nights
are available upon request. A deposit of $250 is required for all accommodations.
If you cancel your accommodations after they have been confirmed, the deposit
is not refundable. Please read the Refund Policy carefully. If you
are requesting accommodations with a host family, please make flight reservations
so that you don't arrive later than 21:30. |
Course Extension:
You can extend your course after you arrive. The additional course fee must
be paid in advance. You can pay the school directly or through your official
A F International representative in your country. |
Airport Transfers:
Please send us your flight information as soon as possible. If you are requesting
accommodations with a host family, please make flight reservations so that
you don't arrive later than 21:30. Airport transfer is not included in the
price. A greeting service and one-way transfer is available for $75. Please
add $25 for arrivals between 22:00 and 7:00 or for arrivals on national
holidays. You will be greeted by someone holding a sign with the school's
name. You can also take one of the airport shuttle vans. Additional fees of $5.00 per hour apply if your pick-up exceeds
the 1-hour maximum due to late arrival or other unforeseen events. |
Insurance:
You must have medical insurance. If you do not have medical insurance, you
can purchase International Student Insurance at the school. The cost is
approximately $60 per month. |
Liability:
A F International, its staff and representatives will not be liable for
loss, damage or injury to persons or property however caused, except where
liability is expressly imposed beyond exclusion by statute. |
| Refund and Cancellation Policy |
| Application Fee: For all courses
a $75 application fee is required. This fee will not be used for your course
tuition This fee is not refundable. |
Tuition: If you cancel your
course prior to the first day of class, you will receive a full refund of
all tuition charges minus your $75.00 application fee.
- If you cancel your course after the start date of your
classes, the first four weeks is not refundable.
- If you cancel your course after the first four weeks
and you stop your classes before you have completed 60% of your course,
you will receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the tuition.
In addition, a fee equal to ten percent of the unused portion of the tuition
will be deducted from your refund.
- If you cancel your course after the first four weeks
and you stop your classes after you have completed 60% of your course,
you will not receive any refund.
- If you cancel your course any time before completing
the program for which you enrolled, the school is required by the U.S.
laws to notify the immigration officials that you have dropped out of your
course. In this case, you are not eligible to transfer to another school
and the U.S. Immigration law requires that you leave the US within 15 days.
- All tuition refund calculations are based upon minimum
units of one week. This means that a refund is only effective as of the
first Monday of the period you are canceling. For example: If you tell
the school on a Tuesday that you want to cancel your course immediately,
the cancellation will only be effective as of the next Monday.
- In the case of private lessons, one week prior notice
is required to cancel your lessons. Fore example: If you tell the school
on a Wednesday that you want to cancel your private lessons, the cancellation
will only be effective as of the following Wednesday and you will be charged
for all of your scheduled private lessons from the day that you cancel
(Wednesday) until the day that that your cancellation becomes effective
(the next Wednesday).
- If the school cancels or discontinues a course, the school
will make a full refund of all tuition you have paid for that course.
Please note: The school does not participate in the State
of California Student Tuition Recovery Fund. |
| Accommodations: There is a $50
fee to change any accommodation after it has been confirmed. If you cancel
your accommodations less than 30 days before your scheduled check-in there
is a $250 cancellation fee. If you want cancel your accommodations after
check-in, a thirty-day advance notice is required. If you do not give a
thirty-day advance notice, you must pay for the accommodations for those
thirty days. |
| Airport Pickup Fees: If you requested
airport pickup, the airport pickup fee is not refundable unless you cancel
the airport pickup in writing at least 10 days before your scheduled arrival. |
| Express Mail Charges: Express
mail charges are not refundable. |
| Extension of Courses: If you extend
your courses or accommodations, each extension shall be considered a new
enrollment for purposes of this refund policy. |
Payment of Refunds: Refunds
will be paid within 30 calendar days of your request. To obtain a refund
you must do all of the following:
- Make a written request to the school.
- Return the original Form I-20 document issued to you
by the school.
- Give the school a copy of the denial letter from the
U.S. Embassy.
We can only pay refunds to the person or company from whom the funds originated.

Policies regarding F-1 Students
An F-1 student must comply with the terms and conditions
of his/her F-1 visa, in addition to the policies stated below. The student
who fails to meet any of the regulatory requirements will be out of status
and terminated in SEVIS.
- Enroll by the 2nd day of every session as a full-time
student. (18 hours or more of instructions per week)
- Inform the school within 10 days, of the following changes:
home address, contact information, sources of financial support, immigration
status, and dependent status.
- Do not engage in unauthorized employment.
- Be sure to have a valid Form I-20. Always report your
intent to extend your program by completing the Request for Extension
Form, at least 30 days prior to the expiration date indicated on
your Form I-20 and submitting it to your PDSO. A student may extend his/her
Form I-20 to take test preparation courses needed for higher education.
- Provide all the necessary documents required by the school
to be in compliance with any regulatory agencies upon request by the school.so
that the school remains in compliance with any regulatory agencies.
- Tansfer Students and Students with a Change of Status
may request a transfer to another language school
after having completed twelve weeks at this school. If you are transferring
to an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university, you may request a
transfer after completing four weeks.
F-1 Students Exiting the School
A student who is planning to leave the school must complete the Notice
of Intention to Exit Form by the 2nd day of the following session
which is the session immediately following their last registered session.
If the reason for leaving the school is to transfer to another SEVP approved
school, in addition to completing the form, the student must attach an acceptance
letter in addition to a letter of intent to transfer from the SEVP approved
school. The school is required by SEVP to close out a students record
in SEVIS for those students who are no longer attending. Please note that
the school can not take a final action for those students whose study is
still in progress. The school must review the students cumulative
GPA and attendance to see if the student is in status or not.
Please note: If the student is on probation, not meeting
the minimum academic progress and attendance requirement, the student will
be terminated in SEVIS accordingly.
Leave of Absence (F-1Students)
A student may request a leave of absence or take less than the required
course load (less than 18 hours of instruction per week) for a session by
completing the Vacation/Drop below Full Course Load Request Form.
Such request will be considered by the administration office if this form
is submitted no sooner than 30 days prior to the start date of the session
seeking to be excused. The official decision as to whether or not the request
is approved will be determined within 7 days from the date of submission.
Please be aware that a leave of absence cannot be abused to extend transfer
period between schools or stay in the United States. The school reserves
the right to decline the students request for a vacation for any reason.
The request for vacation will be approved only for continuing students (pre-registered/pre-paid
for at least a session) under the conditions listed below.
Travel Outside the U.S.: A
student is eligible for up to three (3) sessions as a vacation outside of
the U.S. within one year if the students absence from the U.S. is
greater than 40% of the period for the session(s) indicated. The absence
period will be determined by the plane tickets departure and arrival
dates, which will later be verified by the students Form I-94. The
rules and regulation for traveling outside of the United States and reentering
the country without jeopardizing your status are:
- The student needs a Form I-20 with current information
that is signed by the PDSO on pages one and three allowing travel outside
of the United States.
- The student's visa and passport must be valid at the
time the student reenters the United States (this means that the expiration
date on the student's visa has not passed at the time of re-entry).
- The student cannot re-enter the country during the grace
period granted after completing a program of study.
- The student needs to return and resume his/her studies
within three (3) sessions.
Medical Excuse: The student
who needs to take a reduced course load or no course load at all for medical
reasons must provide the school with an official letter from a licensed
physician. This letter must indicate the reason why the student should not
be taking a full course load. A leave of absence due to medical reason(s)
cannot exceed a total of 3 sessions for the entire time that the student
is enrolled at the school.
Personal Vacation: A student who has completed a minimum of 900 clock
hours is eligible for one session as a vacation. Such hours completed must
be from consecutive registered sessions without a break, and the number
of hours registered for each session must be 18 hours or greater. The session
that the student requests to be excused from must immediately follow the
consecutive sessions completed.
Holidays: The school is only
closed on certain national holidays. Except for private lessons, no credit
or make-up time will be granted for lessons lost because of holidays. The
school observes the following holidays:
New Year's Day (January 1);
Martin Luther King Jr. Day;
Memorial Day (last Monday in May);
Independence Day (July 4);
Labor Day (first Monday in September);
Veteran's Day (November 11)
Thanksgiving Day (last Thursday in November);
Christmas Day (December 25)
