Student Services

A F International College is more than just an English Language School where you only receive classroom English instruction. Our dedicated staff pride themselves on providing you with an exceptional level of guidance and support to ensure a memorable, exciting and successful time with us.

We offer services such as accommodations, activities, transportation, local information and events, college & university advising, insurance and much more. We are committed to ensuring that every service you receive at A F International College meets our standard of excellence. The services we provide include:

Housing
Whether you want the experience of living with an American family or prefer to take advantage of an affordable, independent living arrangement, we will help you find the perfect accommodations.

Activities
Our activities programs are designed to provide you safe, enjoyable experience, be it at one of our international student potlucks or icecream socials, or during a sightseeing trip.

Transportation
Traveling in a different country can be overwhelming even if you are confident in your English skills. A F International College is located in downtown Los Angeles with great public transportation options.

We can advise you on the best routes for your commute to and from school or to nearby attractions . We can also recommend transportation options for day or weekend trips. and we will provide you with the docuemnts required to obtain a metro pass from the City of Los Angeles.

Airport Pickup Service
A F International College provides optional airport pick up service for our international students either to the school or directly to their accommodation destination. Students should inform AFIat least two weeks in advance of their traveling plans, including the date and time of arrival, airline and flight number.

Local information and events
The staff at A F International College have a wealth of knowledge about local events and activities including seasonal music festivals, guest speakers, trade shows, political rallies, historic tours, regional sports, local websites, news sources and much more. College Advising Service
When you enroll in a program on an Intensive schedule, you can take advantage of our free college advising service. Student Advisors are available to help you select a university or college program, assist you with the application forms, help you to prepare your application essay if needed, and assist you in any other way they can.

Student Assistantship

International Students with F-1 and J-1-Student visas may work on campus under federal guidelines. On-campus employment is permitted only on the campus that has issued the I-20/DS2019, and a student must have valid F-1 or J-1 status.
Student employees are defined as matriculated students that work part-time in any area of the school as Student Assistants. They may be assigned to clerical, technical, maintenance, paraprofessional, or other duties related to the instructional or administrative functions of the school.
A Student Assistant is employed to assist staff or faculty by performing work on a part-time basis in any area of the school.
Student Assistants must be matriculated students and maintain the minimum attendance of 18 hours per week in classroom hours. A student assistant is not allowed to substitute classroom attendance for work hours.
Student assistants are required to clock in at the beginning of their service time, and out at the end of their service time. All student assistants must submit monthly timesheets to the administrator, along with the clock hour records.
International students may work only up to 20 hours a week during the semester, but may work full-time during vacation or break periods. To be employed, the student must also have a Social Security card. To apply for a Social Security card, the student must obtain a job offer from the campus and must obtain a letter from the administrator confirming the student is eligible to work.

Insurance
You must have health and accident insurance for the duration of your enrollment. The yearly premium will cover students for 12 months and depend on the student'sage and amount of coverage. Students will be able to waive the fee if they show proof of outside insurance that is compatible to the school's policy.
