Most ESL Program students enter the United States on F-1 student visas. In addition to permitting study in the U.S., an F-1 visa permits on-campus employment while you are a student.
AFI encourages students to work for a variety of reasons:
Work is likely to provide opportunities to interact with and befriend native English speakers.
You may gain new skills and work experience.
You may earn "pocket money.
ESL Program Student Assistant must have been enrolled for at least six sessions at AFI.
ESL Program Student Assistant must have high-intermediate English fluency and a GPA of better than 3.0.
A minimum work commitment of 6 months.
ESL Program students who hold student visas may not work off campus under any circumstances.
